Popular twitch streamer Pokimane is receiving backlash for what many are claiming is a “cash grab” when she jumped in on the trend of VTubing, and ran one of her most recent Twitch streams, following her return from a hiatus, under the guise of an animated digital avatar.
Vtube has content creators depict their likeness by means of a digital avatar, which is also designed in the fashion of anime characters, which adds a level of privacy, and anonymity, to their streams that Twitch does not afford it’s streamers.
Already one of the most successful streamers on Twitch, Pokimane is jumping in on the rise of VTuve, where content creators are finding financial success.
Needless to say, her decision did not sit well with a number of content creators within the VTube community.
However, many also so no issue with Pokimane’s decision.
What do you think? Do vtubers have a legitimate gripe? Is this an example of poor treatment of female streamers? Or is it another example of frustration arising from people trying to figure out how to grow on Twitch and other platforms?
