Legendary Tetris player Jonas Neurbauer passed away suddenly at the age of 39, according to an official announcement posted on his official Twitter page.
Neubauer, considered to be one of the best Tetris players in history, was the seven-time winner of the Classic Tetris World Championship, and had been playing the game since he was 8 years old.
“t’s with a heavy heart that we deliver the terrible news that Jonas has passed away from a sudden medical emergency” the statement read. “He was the absolute best. We are devastated, overwhelmed with grief, and we already miss him dearly. Information to follow when it becomes available.”
A GoFundMe memorial fund has been set up in order to support set up for Neubauer’s family.
The page reads: “Jonas was a master of Tetris, a denim enthusiast, an ambassador to Albacete, Spain, and an expert food try-er in the house of Ravenclaw.
“His enthusiasm for everything was contagious and inspiring, and he always found ways to make any situation incredibly fun.”
