US District Court Judge Thomas Zilly has dismissed  complaint from cheat provider AimJunkies against Destiny 2 developer Bungie on the grounds that AimJunkies has failed to prove that Bungie illegally accessed the personal laptop of one of the company’s managers, James May, which was the main argument in their countersuit filed back in September, according to TorrentFreak.

AimJunkies owner Phoenix Digital Group then argued that Bungie broke Destiny 2’s Limited Software License Agreement and the Digital Millennium Copyright Act’s anti-circumvention provisions by hacking into May’s laptop between 2019 and 2021.

Per the report:

“May has failed to sufficiently allege that Bungie accessed his personal computer and files without authorisation,” the ruling said. “To support his allegation that Bungie accessed his personal computer, May relies on a document that Bungie purportedly produced during discovery in this matter.

“May, however, does not explain what this document is or how it evidences instances in which Bungie allegedly accessed his computer without authorisation and downloaded his personal information.”

“Importantly, neither May nor Phoenix Digital allege that Bungie accessed any copyrighted work. Further, Phoenix Digital has not pleaded any facts to support that its ‘loader software’ was protected by a technological measure.”

While the dismissal is certainly a blow to AimJunkies, they could still re-file the countersuit with some amendments.

Bungie has unveiled the upcoming Season of the Chosen by giving players a glimpse into what it in store for the next season.

The new season will kick off on February 9th and run through May 11th, featuring three new strikes, a new three-player Battleground activity, Guardian Games, and a slew of new loot to get your hands on.

The season also sees the return of two strikes from the original Destiny – Devil’s Lair and Fallen SABER. It also includes a new armor set as well as the Ticuu’s Divination Exotic bow, which sounds like a beast.

Bungie says that the Season of the Chosen’s Battlegrounds activity is a “three-player matchmade activity where [Guardians] will engage in ritual combat against Caiatl’s chosen warriors.”

Whether or not Bungie listens to their community and fixes the rampant issues with cheating in PvP and the controversial Stasis class ability, remains to be seen, but given their history it seems that the issues that have made the game’s most devout players angry will go unaddressed.

Check out the trailer below:

Destiny 2: Forsaken is on the horizon and for the first time in a long time, Bungie has a legitimate chance to bring the game back to what it once was, prior to the release of Destiny 2 last September.

Bungie has now updated its roadmap and it confirms that all players will receive a number of features that are coming in the new DLC, a week prior to the release.

Patch 2.0.0, which is also called ‘pre-loading Forsaken’, arrives on August 28th, and will bring the new weapon system that drops the current limitations and also allows players to use most weapons in any of the three slots.

Essentially, this will bring sniper rifles back as secondary weapons and wills also add more diversity to a player’s weapon configuration as they will then have the option of rolling with the same weapon type across all the slots.

September 4, patch 2.0.1 will release a week after that, officially kicking off Year 2.

Destiny 2 is getting another valid opportunity to win back gamers, many of which have left over the past year due to the many, many issues that have popped up since the launch of the game last fall.

Bungie project lead Scott Taylor recently spoke to the Playstation blog about the controversial death of Cayde-6, which was shown during the 2018 E3 cinematic trailer presentation of Destiny 2: Forsaken DLC.

“There wasn’t a single lightning moment where someone unveiled a grand design about killing Cayde,” Taylor said.

”It was much more organic than that and developed from a series of ideas we were trying to explore. We wanted to tell a story with huge stakes, but have those stakes be really personal to the player. We’ve done aliens trying to destroy the universe with the consequences of failure resulting in catastrophe. What if we could get that feeling with something closer to home, and more relatable? That was appealing.”

Taylor went on the discuss the decision process as to where to go next with the game.

“We started discussing what we cared about as Guardians, and it became clear that the Vanguard had really come alive as characters for our fans,” he said. “So each of the expansions over the last year have focused on them: Ikora in Curse of Osiris, Zavala in Warmind and now Cayde in Forsaken.”

Fan reaction was incredible, and something that Bungie expected once the trailer went public.

“Reaction to this has been all over the place across the studio. Some people are mad, sad, frustrated, excited. We think that’s appropriate. It’s a big deal, and we’re taking it seriously.”

Bungie, the team behind Destiny & Destiny 2, has announced a partnership with NetEase, who is known for their work on Minecraft, Onmyoji, and Rules of Survival.

Here is Bungie’s official announcement:

“At Bungie, our purpose is to build worlds that inspire friendship. For over twenty-five years, through Marathon, Myth, Oni, Halo, and Destiny, we’ve created fantastic places where players have gathered to become heroes. Now, our long-term goal is to become an entertainment company that sustains many worlds simultaneously – Destiny and new worlds to come.

Today, we’re excited to announce that we’ve entered into a new partnership with NetEase to help us explore new directions. With their industry expertise, they’ll empower us to build new worlds and invite players, new and old, to join us there. They’ll help us support separate teams inside Bungie to bring our newest ambitions to life.

If you’re a player of Destiny, this news won’t impact the hobby you’ve come to know. Destiny is an experience that will grow for many years to come. We’ll continue to work with our partners at Activision to foster this global community and turn new players from all over the world into Guardians. Our commitment to that world is not diminished by this announcement. We have exciting plans for the future of the Destiny franchise, and you’ll learn more about the next steps we’ll take together in the weeks to come.

For now, we’re grateful for the opportunity to welcome NetEase to the family. We have a bold vision to explore with them, but that is all a conversation for another time.”

Given the track record of both companies, not fully counting Bungie’s initial debacle with the beginnings of Destiny 2, the prospect of these two brands collaborating on future games is exciting to say the least.

Let’s see what comes of this.

Bungie has rolled up their sleeves and is trying to bring gamers back to Destiny 2 after a horrendous launch to the game that angered a lot of longtime players.

The developer has started slightly turning the tide with their latest DLC, Warmind, and one feature that is making gamers happy is the return of the Tower to PvP in ‘Bannerfall’, which was a popular map in the original Destiny game.

The map is featured in the return of the Iron Banner, which is focusing on Control this time around.

Have at it, guardians.

Bungie has done a lot of work to try and win back gamers that left the flawed game in droves shortlt after it’s release last fall, and they are hoping their latest expansion can do away with the negative reaction to their last one, the Curse of Osiris.

Warmind “will send you to new places to meet new heroes and battle new enemies.”

Warmind arrives on May 8th and Bungie also laid out details on how Crucible content with be released moving forward:

“Season Three marks the beginning of a new plan for how we deliver Crucible content. For every player of Destiny 2, we’ll be releasing all of the new Crucible Maps being developed for Warmind into matchmaking. The same goes for the maps we released with Curse of Osiris. To keep the community in the Crucible unified, everyone will see new arenas in matchmade playlists like Quickplay, Competitive, Trials of the Nine, Iron Banner, as well as the new weekly rotators that include Rumble and Mayhem. That means more opponents for everyone. With the arrival of Private Matches, players will need to purchase each Expansion to have exclusive access to play those Crucible maps with other players in a private match. This plan goes into effect on May 8 with the beginning of Season Three.”

Here is an updated Road Map:

Bungie is continuing to grind through a mass overhaul of Destiny 2, which suffered through several months of fan backlash and player abandonment due to disappointment with what felt like a hollow game when compared to it’s predecessor.

Bungie has confirmed that weapon slot changes are on the able, along with public test servers, as outlined in a recent Bungie Bounty Twitch stream.

Bungie’s community manager, David “DeeJ” Dague, design lead Josh Hamrick, and senior PvP designer Kevin Yanes all took part in the stream to answer questions and discuss plans for the game’s future.

“I think that’s a reasonable request” Hamrick said when discussing a potential return to Destiny 1’s weapon slots. “Ultimately though, we want to do something better. Either way, we’re actively working on weapon slot changes right now. Like, right now.”

Hamrick said that they would be able to elaborate more on that this summer.

“We’ve heard the feedback that the community wants more involvement or at least more of a conversation” Yanes said when discussing a public test server for the game.

“We’re actually looking at ways with the stream, but even in-game, you know there’s a big desire for testing builds early so it’s something we’re thinking about and talking about and working on”.

“This is something we’ll talk about when we’re ready to actually begin it,” Dague added.

Change is now here.

Update 1.1.4 is now live, and called the “Go Fast” Update and it introduced a ton of changes including adjustments to multiple weapon archetypes, with updated time to kill stats, and classes, among more. You can see a detailed spread sheet breakdown of kill speed and shot power info right here.

Once again Bungie is having to dig itself out of the miserable hole it constantly digs itself into with the issues surrounding Destiny 2, as they are again acknowledging yet another problem that is upsetting gamers.

Bungie’s fractured relationship, and the destroyed trust, with it’s Destiny community continues to deteriorate, with the latest issues coming with the re-introduction of the ‘Three of Coin’ perk that accompanied Xur last Friday.

The ‘Three of Coin’ is intended to provide gamers additional probabilities of seeing rare loot such as Exotics engrams drop after completing specific events such as Crucible, Raids, Strikes, etc.

Bungie never provided details on the nature of the buff and players are questioning it’s purpose.

Over the past weekend gamers started complaining that the Three of Coin buff did not work at all.

Redditor Brknsymtry documented his issues with the perk on the Destiny Reddit page stating he spent “nearly 16 hours”  only to see just two exotics, both of which dropped without the Three of Coins buff being utilized.

“This is clearly bugged and there is no way the frequency would be this low or just flat out not there,” said Brknsymtry. “I tried heroic and non heroic strikes, all of crucibles playlists, trials, and public events. Not one.” It’s gotten to the point where some people simply don’t take Bungie’s statements at face value anymore.

Bungie admitted the issue in their latest forum post, stating that they “found that Heroic Strikes do not currently grant higher chances for Exotics when using Three of Coins consumables, compared to Vanguard Strikes.”

Bungie said it plans to fix this issue in “early 2018,” and added that it “will continue to monitor and forward feedback concerning this feature throughout the holiday season.”

Bungie went on to explain the purpose of the Three of Coin perk:

“When players use a Three of Coins consumable, this provides a 50% increase to the base chance of being rewarded an Exotic Engram upon activity completion. Using this consumable does not guarantee an Exotic reward upon completing a set number of activities — but rather increased chances upon each activity completion.”

Players are also reporting issues with the Fated Engram, an expensive item sold by Xur that is guaranteed to turn into an exotic item that you don’t already have.

Now, multiple players are saying that they’ve spent their shards on a Fated Engram only to recieve an item that they already have.

Bungie took to Twitter to say that it is “investigating reports that some players have received duplicate Exotic rewards from Fated Engrams.”

This is getting old. Bungie is again apologizing to gamers for yet another stumble for one of the most popular games on the market.

But gamers, specifically those dedicated to the Destiny universe, have to be losing their faith in Bungie and the longevity of Destiny 2 as countless mistakes, errors and other issues continue to plague the game, and the developer.

Bungie admitted this week that it “made some mistakes” by locking access to some high-level content behind the purchase of the game’s first expansion, the Curse of Osiris, and said that it is addressing a number of the most pressing concerns with this week’s patch.

“With Curse of Osiris now live, it’s clear that we’ve made some mistakes with how we have handled content access,” Bungie said in an update.

But is Bungie driving more gamers away with their gross mishandling of Destiny 2? It’s hard to imagine that they haven’t.

“Our team overlooked the fact that both of these mistakes disabled Trophies and Achievements for Destiny 2,” Bungie stated. “This was an unacceptable lapse on our part, and we can understand the frustration it has created.”

Same old story from a developer that has stumbled far too many times and flagged for some shady stuff by even the most devout gamers in the community.

Bungie is revising the trophy/achievement associated with Prestige activities to only reference the Prestige raid and dropping the required power level for the Prestige raid back down to 300 from 330 to allow all players access.

Keep in mind that the update will not address the heroic strike playlist.

Bungie said it is working on future updates to strikes playlist, including “new challenges, new Modifiers, and free access for all players.”

Who is to say that Bungie hasn’t done some irreversible damage to their reputation with the number of issues associated with Destiny 2.

Only time will tell.
