Tyler “Ninja” Blevins was, for a few years, the megastar of online-streaming, skyrocketing to success on Amazon’s Twitch platform before jumping to Microsoft’s now-defunct Mixer platform. While Ninja would eventually make his return to Twitch, his numbers would continue to decline, and Ninja is no longer pulling in the record-breaking numbers that he became known for.

“No one’s gonna stay on top forever, especially when it comes to live-streaming; there’s always somebody new and hot,” Blevins said during an interview with the Washington Post. “I have no intention of being that guy anymore. I know I’m not going to pull 100,000 viewers on [Twitch] anymore. I don’t have time to do that. I have a wife, I have a family.”

Ninja has voiced his frustrations with fans being hyper focused on analytics, but he says he is learning to adapt.

“[Fans] are focusing on what they can see in front of them, which is numbers and ‘Ninja isn’t getting 100,000 viewers anymore,’ but what they don’t see is everything we created while we were massive and [the] global recognition we have that’s bigger than just streaming on Twitch,”

“I have been doing ‘Fortnite,’ which is obviously what blew me up, so it’s great that I’m starting to enjoy the game [again] and can stream it and play it and just have fun,” Blevins said. “But whenever I want to play any other game, I can switch to that and know that it really isn’t going to affect anything on the back end with deals or anything. It’s incredibly relaxing to be able to play what I want.”

Ninja has cut down on the hours he streams as well, long past the days in which he would consistently clock in 12-16 ours a day back in 2018.

“Back in the day, when streaming wasn’t really mainstream, there weren’t a lot of things to do other than stream, right?”

Ninja also knows that non-gaming content is creating new stars on Twitch, and has been struggling to find where to expand his current content offerings from just gaming.

“Literally that’s the reason I’m kind of stuck, or where I’m at right now,” Ninja said. “I love gaming, and I’m always gonna love gaming. I don’t want to be a react streamer where I sit and watch videos for eight hours. I start my stream, and I’m immediately in a game. Stream goes live, intro’s out and I’m queued up. I’m playing. That’s all I want to do.”

Tyler “Ninja” Blevins streamed on Twitch for the first time since the shutdown of Mixer, and his first return to the streaming platform since he departed for Mixer almost a year ago.

Ninja is not exclusively signed to any platform, and appears to be comparing, as he previously streamed on YouTube. Aside from deciding on his next streaming move, Ninja also is focusing on a career in Hollywood.

While his numbers on Mixer never came close to what he was doing with his Twitch streams, Ninja’s first stream back on Twitch clocked close to 100,000 viewers only 15 minutes since he went live.

In comparison (sort of), Ninja clocked over 4 million views to this point from his first stream on Youtube, according to The Verge.

After the shutdown of Mixer last month, everyone has been wondering where popular streamer Tyler “Ninja” Blevins would continue his superstar career.

Now, it appears that Ninja has his sights set on a career in Hollywood.

Ninja is set to appear in the upcoming Ryan Reynolds movie ‘Free Guy’ that is slated to hit theaters this December, but Ninja sees it as just the beginning.

“They were like, ‘You were amazing, you’re a natural,’” Ninja said, according to the Hollywood Reporter.

“I kept telling Jess, they’re just gassing me up, saying that so I don’t think I suck. But we’re being told that it’s not gas, so I hope it’s amazing.”

Ninja is currently in negotiations as to where he will bring his streaming brand next, with Twitch and YouTube both in the mix.

Ninja’s management firm says that they are looking at all of his options, including “the ability to create content that expands beyond livestreaming through TV, film and other entertainment opportunities.”

However despite his aspirations for a bigger career in Hollywood, Ninja said that no matter what, “I’ll be gaming my entire life.”

It’s no surprise that gamers and streamers are looking to branch out. Platforms such as TikTok have been making it much easier for their TikTok content creators to get noticed, and that can often lead to opportunities in film, movies, and more. In fact, a lot of film content creators have been using the platforms to get noticed. Everyone from indie filmmakers to video game voice actors have been finding a great way to get out to the public eye.

Following the announcement that Microsoft’s streaming platform Mixer would be folding, and merge with Facebook Gaming as a result, the streaming industry has been wondering where Tyler “Ninja” Blevins would land now that he is essentially a free agent.

Earlier this week, Ninja made both a test stream and a live stream, playing Fortnite, on his official YouTube channel, leading many to believe that he would indeed end up on YouTube, easily the biggest competitor to Twitch.

However it appears that Ninja’s next destination has not been decided officially as of yet, and Youtube, Twitch, and Facebook Gaming are all in on trying to land one of the industries top streamers.

According to Sports Business Journal’s Adam Stern, it’s a three-horse race between Twitch, YouTube, and Facebook Gaming to sign Ninja, with a deal expected to be finalized by the end of the summer.

On the surface it would seem that Twitch would hold the edge in negotiations. Not only do they present more monetization opportunities, directly on stream, than YouTube or Facebook Gaming, they also have history with Ninja.

Despite a rather bitter exit, Ninja did establish his brand on Twitch, and he is considered to have run one of the most successful and popular Twitch channels the platform has ever seen.

It can also be argued that Ninja was the catalyst for a lot of Twitch’s boom in popularity, as well as the industry’s biggest crossover star, creating more visibility and financial opportunities for streamers around the world, and across different platforms.

In fact, when Mixer initially signed Ninja to an exclusive contract a year ago, it spurned activity from all platforms to starting inking their most popular streamers to exclusive deal, creating even more business, and more profitability for content creators.

While Ninja didn’t help Mixer from the eventuality of folding, a lot can be blamed on the contract structure, and how Mixer conducted business. Judging from how things ended for the once-promising platform, it’s fair to come to the conclusion that Microsoft had no clue how to manage, or develop, a successful online streaming platform.

Now it comes down to who will offer a combination of money and opportunity, as the three biggest platforms try to reel in what is easily the industry’s biggest free agent.

Wherever Ninja lands, it will set off another wave for the industry, and can show the power of free agency in the realm of content creation.

Earlier this week, we highlighted a test stream on YouTube made by Ninja’s channel that heavily suggested the former Twitch and Mixer streamer may end up on YouTube in the wake of the Mixer shutdown.

Ninja started streaming on YouTube, clocking in on over 130,000 viewers as he played Fortnite with popular streamers such as TimTheTatman, Dr Lupo and CourageJD.

That viewership mark alone is a massive increase from what he saw during the last few weeks on Mixer, where he was seeing an average of 2-3 thousand viewers.

Ninja already has close to 24 million subscribers to his YouTube channel, but can only rely on donations to monetize his streams, which has opened the door for his return to Twitch.

According to the Sporting News, Esports reporter Rod Breslau says Ninja is still in talks with streaming platforms, which he stated on his Twitter page.

This would open the door for talks for a return to Twitch, where Ninja was the clear king of Twitch channels and where his streams catapulted him to superstardom and mainstream notoriety.

Despite fans looking for any news or insight as to where Ninja will land next, he did not discuss any future plans during his YouTube stream on Wednesday.

After the announcement that Mixer would be shutting down at the end of July, and move to Facebook Gaming, many wondered where superstar streamer Tyler “Ninja” Blevins would end up.

Some asked if he would make his way back to Twitch, where he reached superstar level and earned millions before defecting to Mixer, and rumors even surfaced that he may be teaming up with other streamers to form a new platform.

Well, we may have gotten a hint about his next move, as Ninja publicly posted a “test” stream to his YouTube account, but it seems to be an accident as the stream was posted without a thumbnail, title, or updated description, according to Fortnite leaker HYPEX.

On Monday, Ninja’s wife and manager Jessica Blevins stated on Twitter that Ninja something exciting was coming this week, which many expected would be the official announcement.

Now, it appears that Ninja may be announcing his new deal with YouTube.

YouTube has been making waves in their battle for streaming supremacy with Twitch, who currently sits convincingly at the top. Over the past year YouTube has inked 100 Thieves content creators CouRage and Valkyrae to deals, and now may be on the verge of announcing the addition of Ninja as well.

Toxicity in gaming is rampant, and no game is void of it. Even more troubling is that popular streamers apparently know no bounds when it comes to racial slurs or hate speech, and as many gamers have experienced, gaming has a community rich with people who feel way too comfortable speaking offensively in gameplay and towards other gamers.

One of the industry’s most popular and profitable streamers Tyler “Ninja” Blevins, who teamed up with Drake recently to smash a ton of records, is now under fire for using a racial slur in one of his streams.

Blevins dropped a racial slur into the middle of a song that wasn’t in the lyrics, leading to an apology from the Fortnite celebrity.

With more incidents popping up, Twitch’s community guidelines are now under a spotlight, more specifically, their “hateful conduct” policies.

“Hateful conduct is any content or activity that promotes, encourages, or facilitates discrimination, denigration, objectification, harassment, or violence based on race, ethnicity, national origin, religion, sex, gender, gender identity, sexual orientation, age, disability, medical condition, physical characteristics, or veteran status, and is prohibited.”

The language used by Blevins would certainly fall under “race, ethnicity”, but a Twitch representative explained that context and intent are investigated when Twitch streamers are reported. The guidelines also state that the team “consider a number of factors to determine the intent and context of any reported hateful conduct”.

So, there is a difference in the incident with Blevins and that of Matthew “Sadokist” Trivett, who was suspended after using racist language and telling someone to kill themself in a brutal verbal attack on another member in the community.

The result? One of the most popular Twitch streams ever, in fact, the most watched stream of all-time  reaching more than 600,000 concurrent viewers at one point, which destroys the previous record of 400,000 for an individual stream.

in true hip-hop beef fashion, rapper Post Malone tweeted his thought that PUBG is better than Fortnite.
