Twitch has come under intense criticism for posting a video intended to support the Black Lives Matter movement but primarily featured white creators.
The one-minute long video, which was originally posted to Twitter, has been taken down after it received backlash and came under fire for horribly failing to highlight Black creators/Black twitch streamers.
It featured one line spoken by a Black streamer and less than 11 seconds featuring Black streamers, according to Polygon.
According to CNN, Twitch responded to a request for comment by pointing to a Tweet posted on Thursday: “We hear you. Our goal was to demonstrate the importance of allyship – a message we didn’t make clear. Only by working together can we create a positive change.”
Twitch also received negative feedback for a video posted that was intended to support LGBTQ creators, which said: “The G in LGBTQIA+ also stands for gamer.”
Hopefully Twitch gets leadership that is not so tone-deaf, unaware, and simply void of empathy and an understanding of their community.
