Soleil “Ewok” Wheeler has signed an exclusive streaming deal with Twitch, marking her official return to the platform following the shutdown of Mixer, according to ESPN’s Arda Ocal.
“I decided to return to Twitch because the platform has a vast network, and I had already established a community there before switching over to Mixer,” Ewok said, per the report.
“It’s also the best platform for me to continue building my brand. I also miss Twitch Rivals and meeting people that have supported me since day one.”
Back in 2019, Ewok was one of the twitch streamers to leave the platform to join Mixer, along with Tyler “Ninja” Blevins and Michael “Shroud” Grzesiek.
“Mixer is a part of my journey that I will always cherish. I learned from the community there, and they helped me grow as a streamer,” the 14-year old streamer said.
Mixer’s shutdown was a shock to many streamers and creators, especially following the signing of prominent streamers on Twitch such as Ninja and Shroud, but it shows that streaming platforms aren’t necessarily the slam dunk money maker that they appear to be on the surface. Coupled with the launch of many social media platforms in and around the space, such as a sports social media platform for creators in an around the world of sports, it proves just how competitive the market and industry can be.
