Twitch has suspended the account of President Donald Trump following the riots at the US Capitol on Wednesday, marking the second suspension that Twitch has issued on Trump’s channel.
“In light of yesterday’s shocking attack on the Capitol, we have disabled President Trump’s Twitch channel,” Twitch said in an official statement to CNN. “Given the current extraordinary circumstances and the President’s incendiary rhetoric, we believe this is a necessary step to protect our community and prevent Twitch from being used to incite further violence.”
Twitch has followed social media platforms such as Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram which have all taken measures to suspend Trump’s accounts following Wednesday’s events.
Twitter’s suspension lasted for around 12 hours and Trump’s account is already back.
